Acne is the 8th most common disease in the world. While genetics is an important underlying factor the proximate cause is the obstruction of hair follicles with subsequent inflammation and/or infection by the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes.
Because of the underlying genetic factors acne is a long term problem. Several types of medication may help and are the first line of therapy. However, they may take a long time to work, be expensive, and have unwanted side effects, including birth defects, breast cancer and infections.
Laser therapy for acne works by immediately killing the bacteria. The effects are rapid, but not necessarily permanent. Sometimes the bacteria can eventually recolonize the face. Usually ongoing treatment of some kind is still required.
Acne laser treatment
In addition to eradicating the immediate acne rash, laser treatment can also smooth or remove acne scars. The laser stimulates the cells of the skin to reorganize and regrow. Disorganized scar tissue becomes smoother, more uniform in texture and color.
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that affects more than 16 million Americans. It is characterized by small, red, pus-filled bumps on the skin that are present during flare-ups and small broken capillaries and larger facial vessels. Usually rosacea affects only skin on the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Flare-ups often occur in cycles.
Our LightPod Neo is a unique 1064nm laser that can clear Rosacea and vessels in 1 to 2 quick, gentle treatments without skin contact or cooling necessary.
